1. Introduction

Welcome to Indiana Ready, an emergency preparedness and public safety application developed by Corbin Codeworks.

Indiana Ready is designed to help individuals and families stay informed, prepare for emergencies, and protect important personal information. The application provides real-time National Weather Service (NWS) alerts, community incident reporting, emergency preparedness resources, and a secure Emergency Binder where users can store important personal, family, medical, household, and insurance information.

Indiana Ready also allows users to share Emergency Binder information and photographs with trusted contacts using end-to-end encryption.

We understand that the information stored in an Emergency Binder can be highly sensitive. Protecting this information is a fundamental part of our commitment to our users.

The contents of your Emergency Binder, including personal information and photographs, are protected by end-to-end encryption. Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt or view this encrypted content.

Indiana Ready uses Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure to support its services. Certain account information, technical information, community reports, and other data necessary to operate the application may be processed separately from the encrypted Emergency Binder.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Indiana Ready handles, how it is used, how it is protected, and what choices you have regarding your information.

By using Indiana Ready, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires consent for particular data processing, we will obtain that consent separately.

2. Information We Handle

Indiana Ready handles different types of information depending on the features you use.

Information may be provided by you, generated through your use of the application, submitted through community reporting features, or processed by services that support the application.

2.1 Account Information

If you create an account or use account-based features, Indiana Ready may process information necessary to establish, authenticate, and maintain your account.

Depending on the authentication methods implemented, this may include:

  • Account identifiers.
  • Email addresses associated with your account.
  • Authentication credentials or tokens.
  • Account settings and preferences.
  • Information necessary to establish trusted-contact relationships.

Firebase Authentication or other configured services may process information required to authenticate users and maintain account security.

Account information is handled separately from the end-to-end encrypted contents of your Emergency Binder.

2.2 Emergency Binder Information

The Indiana Ready Emergency Binder allows users to securely store important information they may need before, during, or after an emergency.

Information users may store includes:

  • Personal information.
  • Family member profiles.
  • Emergency contacts and family contact information.
  • Medical information, including allergies and other relevant health details.
  • Emergency preparedness plans and procedures.
  • Household utility locations, including water shutoff valves, gas shutoffs, and electrical breaker boxes.
  • Photographs showing the locations of important household equipment.
  • Homeowners or renters insurance information.
  • Vehicle information and vehicle insurance documentation.
  • Photographs of personal belongings and property.
  • Other information and photographs users choose to add to their Emergency Binder.

All information within the Emergency Binder, including personal information and photographs, is protected by end-to-end encryption.

Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt, read, or view the contents of this encrypted information.

The application may transmit or store encrypted Emergency Binder information through Firebase or Google Cloud infrastructure to provide storage and sharing functionality. When encryption is correctly implemented and the necessary decryption keys remain exclusively with authorized users, the encrypted content is not readable by Corbin Codeworks or infrastructure providers that do not possess those keys.

2.3 Community Incident Reports

Indiana Ready allows users to submit reports about incidents and hazards that may affect their communities.

Reports may concern:

  • Severe weather and storm damage.
  • Fires and smoke.
  • Vehicle accidents and road hazards.
  • Shootings and other public safety incidents.
  • Chemical spills and hazardous material incidents.
  • Train derailments and railroad incidents.
  • Downed trees and damaged infrastructure.
  • Power outages and utility disruptions.
  • Other emergencies and public safety concerns.

Depending on the reporting features available, submissions may include descriptions, incident categories, photographs, timestamps, and incident locations.

Information submitted through community reporting features is handled separately from the encrypted Emergency Binder.

Reports may be made available to other users according to the application's reporting and visibility settings.

Community incident reports should not be assumed to have the same end-to-end encryption protections as Emergency Binder information.

Users should avoid including unnecessary personal information, private medical details, sensitive identifying information, or other confidential information in reports intended for community viewing.

Community reports may be unverified. Users should not treat a report as officially confirmed unless its status indicates that it has been verified through an appropriate source.

2.4 Weather Alerts and Emergency Information

Indiana Ready provides real-time National Weather Service alerts and other supported emergency information.

Weather and emergency information may be retrieved from government sources, external data providers, or other services.

This information may include:

  • Tornado warnings.
  • Severe thunderstorm warnings.
  • Flood watches and warnings.
  • Winter storm and ice storm alerts.
  • Other hazardous weather alerts.
  • Additional emergency information supported by the application.

Retrieving and displaying alerts may involve network requests and technical information necessary to operate the service.

The app uses location permissions to support its alert functionality. Location information helps Indiana Ready determine which alerts are relevant to users.

The app also uses notification permissions to deliver alerts and other supported notifications.

Additional details about location and notification permissions are provided in Sections 3 and 4.

Indiana Ready is intended to supplement official emergency information, not replace instructions from emergency management authorities or emergency services.

2.5 Technical and Diagnostic Information

Because Indiana Ready uses Firebase and Google Cloud, certain technical information may be processed to support the application's operation.

Depending on the services enabled and their configuration, this may include:

  • App and device information.
  • Network information, such as IP addresses.
  • Account identifiers.
  • Authentication and security events.
  • Service logs.
  • Error reports and diagnostic information.
  • Information necessary to deliver notifications or maintain service reliability.

The exact information processed depends on the Firebase and Google Cloud products used, the application's configuration, and the services enabled in the app.

Technical information is handled separately from the encrypted contents of the Emergency Binder.

3. Location Information and Permissions

Indiana Ready requires users to grant location permission to receive location-relevant weather alerts.

Location information helps the application identify weather alerts that may affect a user's area.

How Location Is Used

Depending on the application's implementation, location information may be used to:

  • Identify relevant National Weather Service alerts.
  • Determine which weather warnings or advisories may affect the user's area.
  • Support location-dependent emergency information.
  • Associate a location with a community incident report when the user chooses to submit one.

Users must grant the requested location permission to receive location-based alerts through Indiana Ready.

If location permission is denied or disabled, location-dependent alert functionality may not work as intended.

The precise type of location access, including whether the app accesses location in the background or only while in use, depends on the permissions requested and the app's actual implementation.

Users can review or change location permissions through their Android device settings. Changing these permissions may affect alert functionality.

If a community incident report includes a location, that information may be visible to other users according to the report's visibility settings.

Users should avoid including sensitive location details in public reports unless necessary and intentional.

Location information is handled separately from the end-to-end encrypted contents of the Emergency Binder unless the user stores that information within the binder, in which case it receives the binder's encryption protections.

4. Photo Gallery and Notification Permissions

4.1 Photo Gallery Access

Indiana Ready allows users to upload or select photographs for supported application features.

Users must grant the appropriate photo or gallery access when required by the feature and the device's operating system.

Photographs may be used for purposes such as:

  • Adding images to the Emergency Binder.
  • Documenting household equipment and utility locations.
  • Recording property and personal belongings for insurance purposes.
  • Supporting community incident reports.
  • Other supported features selected by the user.

Photographs added to the Emergency Binder are protected by end-to-end encryption. Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt or view their contents.

Photographs submitted through community reporting features are handled separately and may be visible to other users according to the applicable reporting and visibility settings.

The app's access to photographs depends on the photo picker or gallery interface and the permissions granted by the user.

Users should review photographs before submitting them to community reporting features and avoid uploading images containing sensitive information they do not intend to share.

Users can manage photo permissions through their device settings. Restricting access may prevent certain photo-related features from functioning.

4.2 Notification Permissions

Indiana Ready uses notifications to help users receive important weather alerts and other supported emergency notifications.

Users must grant notification permission to receive push notifications from Indiana Ready where the operating system requires this permission.

Notifications may include information about weather warnings, advisories, and other supported alerts.

If notification permission is denied or disabled, notifications may not appear on the device. Users may still be able to access information through the app, depending on the available features and connectivity.

Users can manage notification permissions through their device settings.

The delivery of notifications may depend on Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google services, internet connectivity, device settings, and the availability of the relevant alert source.

Indiana Ready cannot guarantee that every alert will be delivered instantly or that a notification will always be received.

Users should not rely exclusively on Indiana Ready for life-threatening emergency notifications. They should follow official instructions and use appropriate emergency notification services.

5. How We Use Information

Indiana Ready uses information as necessary to provide, maintain, and protect its features.

Purposes may include:

  • Creating and maintaining user accounts.
  • Authenticating users and securing account access.
  • Providing real-time weather alerts.
  • Identifying weather alerts relevant to the user's location.
  • Delivering supported notifications.
  • Processing and displaying community incident reports.
  • Supporting emergency preparedness features.
  • Allowing users to organize Emergency Binder information.
  • Enabling end-to-end encrypted sharing with trusted contacts.
  • Maintaining the reliability and security of the application.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Preventing abuse and unauthorized access.
  • Meeting applicable legal obligations.

Corbin Codeworks does not decrypt Emergency Binder information for advertising, marketing, or routine administrative access.

We do not sell the contents of users' Emergency Binders, encrypted photographs, medical information, family information, or insurance documentation.

6. Emergency Binder Privacy and End-to-End Encryption

The Emergency Binder is designed to provide users with a secure location for storing and sharing sensitive personal information.

Unlike community incident reports and other application data, Emergency Binder content is protected by end-to-end encryption.

6.1 How End-to-End Encryption Works

End-to-end encryption is designed to ensure that only authorized participants possessing the necessary decryption keys can read protected information.

When a user stores or shares supported Emergency Binder information:

  1. The information is encrypted using the application's encryption mechanisms.
  2. Encrypted content may be transmitted to or stored on supporting infrastructure to provide the application's functionality.
  3. The encrypted content remains unreadable to parties that do not possess the necessary decryption keys.
  4. Authorized users with the appropriate keys can decrypt and view the information.

Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt, read, or view the contents of users' end-to-end encrypted Emergency Binders, including the personal information and photographs stored within them.

This protection applies to Emergency Binder content, including:

  • Personal and family information.
  • Medical information and allergies.
  • Emergency contacts and preparedness plans.
  • Household utility locations.
  • Property and household photographs.
  • Insurance information and documentation.
  • Other personal information and photographs stored within the Emergency Binder.

The protection described in this section depends on the encryption being correctly implemented and the necessary decryption keys remaining outside the control of Corbin Codeworks and unauthorized parties.

6.2 Sharing With Trusted Contacts

Indiana Ready allows users to share supported Emergency Binder information with trusted contacts.

This feature is intended to help family members and other trusted individuals access important information when it is needed.

Users are responsible for selecting their trusted contacts and deciding what information to share.

Authorized recipients who possess the necessary decryption keys can view the information shared with them.

Once a recipient has accessed encrypted information, they may be able to save, copy, photograph, or redistribute it. End-to-end encryption cannot prevent an authorized recipient from sharing information they can legitimately access.

Removing a trusted contact may restrict future access according to the application's implementation, but it cannot necessarily erase information the recipient previously decrypted or saved.

6.3 What Encryption Does Not Cover

End-to-end encryption of the Emergency Binder does not automatically mean that every feature of Indiana Ready is encrypted in the same way.

Account information, community incident reports, location information used to provide alerts, notification-related information, technical information, and other data needed to operate the application may be handled separately.

Users should review the visibility and sharing settings of each feature and avoid submitting sensitive information to community reporting features when they intend that information to remain private.

7. Firebase and Google Cloud Services

Indiana Ready uses Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure to support selected application features.

Depending on the services enabled and how they are configured, these services may support:

  • User authentication.
  • Application data storage.
  • Encrypted Emergency Binder storage and delivery.
  • Communication and sharing between users.
  • Push notifications.
  • Application security and reliability.
  • Technical diagnostics.
  • Other backend operations required by the application.

Google may process information as a service provider to operate, maintain, secure, and support the infrastructure used by Indiana Ready.

The information processed depends on the specific services enabled and how they are configured.

Using Firebase or Google Cloud does not, by itself, give Corbin Codeworks or Google the ability to decrypt properly implemented end-to-end encrypted Emergency Binder content when the necessary decryption keys remain exclusively with authorized users.

However, not every type of information handled by these services is necessarily end-to-end encrypted. Account information, service metadata, technical logs, location-related information, notification information, and community reports may be processed separately.

Google's handling of information is governed by its applicable terms and privacy documentation.

For more information, review:

8. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Indiana Ready is designed to allow users to decide what information they share and with whom.

Information may be shared in the following circumstances.

8.1 Sharing Initiated by Users

Users may share supported Emergency Binder information with trusted contacts through the application's encrypted sharing features.

Only recipients with the appropriate authorization and decryption keys can access the protected contents.

Users should verify recipients before sharing sensitive information.

8.2 Community Incident Reports

Information submitted through community reporting features may be made available to other users according to the app's reporting and visibility settings.

These reports are separate from private Emergency Binder content.

Users should not assume that information submitted through community reporting features is protected by the Emergency Binder's end-to-end encryption.

8.3 Service Providers

Indiana Ready uses Firebase, Google Cloud, and other configured service providers necessary to operate the application.

These providers may process information to support authentication, storage, delivery, notifications, security, and other application functions.

Properly implemented end-to-end encrypted Emergency Binder content remains unreadable to infrastructure providers that do not possess the necessary decryption keys.

8.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information when required by applicable law, valid legal process, or a binding legal obligation.

We may also take appropriate action to address security incidents, investigate abuse, protect users, or safeguard the integrity of the application, consistent with applicable law.

Where information is protected by end-to-end encryption and we do not possess the necessary decryption keys, we cannot provide its decrypted contents merely because a request has been made.

8.5 Sale of Personal Information

Corbin Codeworks does not sell users' personal information.

We do not sell the contents of Emergency Binders, encrypted photographs, medical details, family information, or insurance documentation.

We do not permit advertisers to access encrypted Emergency Binder contents for advertising purposes.

9. Data Retention

Indiana Ready may retain information for as long as necessary to provide the application's features, maintain accounts, support trusted-contact sharing, preserve community reports, maintain security, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Retention periods depend on the type of information, the feature involved, and the applicable storage configuration.

Account information: Retained while necessary to maintain accounts, authenticate users, and provide associated services.

Emergency Binder content: Encrypted content may be retained to provide storage and sharing functionality until it is deleted according to the application's features and applicable retention procedures.

Community incident reports: Retained according to the application's reporting, moderation, and retention procedures.

Location and notification-related information: Retained or processed as necessary to provide the relevant functionality, subject to the applicable service configuration.

Technical and security logs: Retained as necessary for security, troubleshooting, reliability, and service operations.

Because Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt Emergency Binder content, we cannot inspect its contents to determine what a particular encrypted file contains.

Deleting information may not immediately remove every copy from backups or systems subject to retention procedures. We will handle deletion according to applicable procedures and legal obligations.

Users should not assume that deleting information from one device automatically deletes copies previously downloaded, decrypted, or saved by another recipient.

10. Account Deletion and Data Deletion Requests

Users who wish to delete their Indiana Ready account may request deletion by contacting:

support@corbincodeworks.com

Please use the subject line Indiana Ready Account Deletion Request and include the account information necessary for us to identify your account. Do not include passwords or other authentication secrets.

We may need to verify account ownership before processing a request.

Upon receiving a valid request, Corbin Codeworks will handle it in accordance with applicable law, the application's deletion procedures, and legitimate retention requirements.

Where information is stored using Firebase or Google Cloud, deletion may require processing through the relevant services and storage systems.

Because Emergency Binder information is protected by end-to-end encryption, deleting stored encrypted content does not necessarily erase copies that authorized recipients have already downloaded, decrypted, exported, or saved.

Deleting an account may also affect access to encrypted information. Depending on how encryption keys are managed, information may become unrecoverable if the keys required to decrypt it are deleted or lost.

Users should review any available export or recovery options before requesting account deletion.

Contacting support to request account deletion does not guarantee immediate deletion. Requests will be processed according to applicable law and the procedures used to verify and complete the request.

11. Data Security

Corbin Codeworks takes the security of Indiana Ready and its users' information seriously.

Depending on the feature, security measures may include:

  • End-to-end encryption for Emergency Binder content.
  • Encrypted network connections.
  • Authentication and authorization controls.
  • Access restrictions for application infrastructure.
  • Security protections for backend services.
  • Measures intended to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Technical safeguards designed to protect application availability and integrity.

No electronic system or security measure can guarantee absolute protection against every threat.

Users should protect their devices, account credentials, and any encryption keys or recovery mechanisms used by the application.

Users should also carefully select trusted contacts and exercise caution when sharing sensitive information about their family, health, home, or property.

If you believe your account or information has been compromised, contact support@corbincodeworks.com.

12. Children's Privacy

Indiana Ready is designed to support emergency preparedness and public safety for individuals and families.

The application may allow users to store information about family members, including children, within their Emergency Binder.

Parents and guardians should exercise care when entering or sharing information about minors.

Users should avoid making children's personal details, medical information, locations, or photographs available through public or community-facing features.

We do not use private, end-to-end encrypted Emergency Binder information for advertising.

The application's age rating, intended audience, account features, and actual data practices determine which additional children's privacy laws and platform requirements may apply.

If the application is directed toward children or knowingly collects personal information from children in circumstances subject to additional legal requirements, Corbin Codeworks will address the applicable obligations.

13. Your Privacy Choices

Indiana Ready provides features that allow users to decide what information they enter and what supported information they share.

Depending on the features available, users may be able to:

  • Choose what information to store in their Emergency Binder.
  • Select which photographs to store or share.
  • Choose trusted contacts.
  • Control whether information is shared privately or submitted as a community report.
  • Review and manage account information.
  • Request account or data deletion.
  • Manage device permissions.
  • Stop using the application.

Users should understand the distinction between private, end-to-end encrypted Emergency Binder content and information submitted through community reporting features.

Community reports should not be treated as private encrypted content.

Because Corbin Codeworks cannot decrypt Emergency Binder information, we cannot directly read its contents to fulfill requests that require inspecting that information. Users should use the application's available controls to access or manage their encrypted content.

Managing Permissions

Users can manage Indiana Ready's location, photo gallery, and notification permissions through their Android device settings.

Please note:

  • Location permission: Required for location-based weather alerts.
  • Photo/gallery permission: Required when accessing or uploading photographs through features that need the permission.
  • Notification permission: Required to receive push notifications where the operating system requires it.

Disabling these permissions may limit or prevent the associated features from working as intended.

14. Third-Party Services and External Links

Indiana Ready may rely on third-party services to provide weather information, cloud infrastructure, authentication, notifications, and other functionality.

These services may have their own privacy policies and terms.

Indiana Ready may also display or reference information from external government agencies or other sources.

Corbin Codeworks is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites or services.

Users should review the privacy policies of any external service they choose to use.

Relevant documentation includes:

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Corbin Codeworks may update this Privacy Policy as Indiana Ready evolves, new features are introduced, service providers change, or legal and platform requirements change.

Updated versions will be published at the designated privacy policy URL, and the effective date will be revised as appropriate.

If a significant change affects how personal information is handled, we will take appropriate steps to communicate the change where required by law.

Users are encouraged to review this policy periodically.

Any applicable consent requirements will be addressed when changes to the application's information-handling practices require them.
